Kansas communities look to REALTORS® to be leaders in business, politics and volunteer organizations. A program by the Kansas Association of REALTORS® is helping to make REALTORS® the best leaders they can be.
The Right Track: Leadership in Motion is in its sixth year at KAR, and more than 50 REALTORS® from across Kansas have graduated from the program. The Class of 2008 features 12 future leaders in their communities and their association. Members of the Class are:

Paul Daemen, Plaza Real Estate, Wichita
Sheri Dyer, Reece & Nichols Overland Park, Overland Park
Shanelle Fields, Century 21 Sheila Burdett Agency, Junction City
Thomas Howe, Reece & Nichols Acres Realty, Lawrence
Liesel Kirk-Fink, Kirk & Cobb, Inc., Topeka
Scott Lane, Reece & Nichols Mission, Prairie Village
Monica Miller, JP Weigand & Sons, Wichita
Charlotte Patterson, Prudential Dinning-Beard, Wichita
Carol Ronnebaum, Coldwell Banker Griffith & Blair, Topeka
Sharon Taylor, Re/Max Realty Professionals, Wichita
Shonda Vaughan, Re/Max First REALTORS®, Overland Park
Christian Zarif, Prudential Kansas City Realty, Overland Park
The group met for the first time in January, where the retreat focused on leadership styles, communication styles, the expectations of volunteers, and teambuilding skills.
"The first retreat is always fun because we do so many activities to help the individuals get to know each other and form a team. After six years, it still fascinates me to see how different each class is in their dynamics," said Christy Stinger, Vice President of Administrative Services for KAR and coordinator of The Right Track program.
"This teambuilding is important in our group because you learn so much from each other during the course of the year, and form friendships and bonds that last forever. The Right Track classes meet for reunions each year and it's like a wonderful family gathering when people see each other again," she continued.
The second retreat was held at the Kansas State Capitol Building in Topeka where the REALTORS® learned about the legislative process, saw the House of Representatives in action, and discussed the bills that involve real estate and private property rights in front of this year's Legislature.
The Right Track class will meet for two additional retreats during the year, and then graduate in a ceremony at the KAR Convention in October.
Applications for the Class of 2009 will be available beginning in April. For more information, please contact KAR at 800/366-0069 x 2130 or Christy@KansasRealtor.com
